So this week I have taken a break from life here in Israel, or more accurately I should say the never-ending party that is Tel Aviv. How did I accomplish this practically impossible act? I hid, that’s right, I hid like a little baby girl and i’m damn proud of it. There are moments in [...] So, i’m sitting here on the floor of a public, inner-city bus, staring at the very attractive knee of some lucky shlub who was able to snag a seat before me and I ponder my past, wondering to myself about the series of events that led me to this place on the very dirty floor [...] There is no question that beauty is a cultural thing and here in Israel the ideal is skinny, long hair and well put together, or at least that’s the impression I get based on who I see walking around and the comments I get on my own, apparently much less than perfect, appearance. Like most [...] Bureaucracy, bureaucracy, bureaucracy, art though the bane of democratic governance or the freakish love-child of it’s success? I honestly have no idea but I can tell you this, when you live in the country of your birth and growth, you’ll most likely develop the skills required in order to maneuver through the various bureaucratic bodies. [...] You know, i’ve always considered myself to be pretty up-to-date on technology and the internet, not on a professional level mind you, but definitely on the level of an interested and avid follower. As I don’t really consider myself to be part of the true online world, I have always felt a certain amount of [...] Ever read one of those books that totally $@%! with your head and leave you in a dazed and confused kind of state where you’re no longer sure of anything? Or maybe one of those books that just pushes you so off-balance that you’re incapable of continuing to look at life in the same way? [...] Seeing as how this is the only functional democracy in the Middle East, one would expect Israel to allow its’ citizens a voice, but like every other country in the world, the day-to-day reality is much more complex and apathy has become a very dominant truth.
